nviromental impacts of food waste and the importance of taking only what can be eaten.

Students’ post-consumer food waste is hand-scraped and weighed every half hour. Volunteers yell “Weigh the Waste” on the half hour announcing the pounds collected, and give out fun prizes to students who can guess correctly the amount of food waste they produce!

All event volunteers will receive: a Free lunch at Knightro’s, A “Weigh the Waste” Nametag, free t-shirt and their photo published on UCF Dining Facebpook page, website and more–publicity!

I am so excited to announce that Brett Smith the National Sales Director for Clean the World will be our next speaker! Clean the World has a two-part mission:

Collect and recycle soap and shampoo products discarded by the hospitality industry every day.
Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished people, prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.
Through their mission they have been able to divert 1.4 million lbs. (700 tons) of hotel waste from polluting local landfills. Come and hear Brett talk about how Clean the World got started and how they have been so successful in such a short amount of time.

Every 3rd Thursday, Dandelion Communitea Cafe hosts Green Drinks. Green Drinks where you can eat, drink, enjoy great music, talk and learn about the issues concerning our environment and the Ourlando community.
